mark bufalini, AIA

founding partner & principal architect

Mark is one of the founding partners of Collaborative Design Group Architecture & Interiors along with his wife, Mickey.  Mark received his Bachelors of Architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is a Registered Architect in Texas.  Mark has over 30 years of architecture and design experience in both the public and private sector.  As a young architect, he began working on a prestigious portfolio of work including the Pittsburgh Zoo, Three Rivers Stadium and worked to bring the historical row homes of Pittsburgh back to their former glory.  His attention was then redirected to include the design of many prestigious residences in the New York and New Jersey area where he honed his skills in the high end residential market on the east coast.

Upon his return to Texas, Mark spent a decade as the Senior Vice President of Design for a national top 30 home builder.  Mark was brought in to overhaul the production housing market in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Austin.  He developed the first brownstone development of 3 and 4 story row and single family homes in the Midtown area near downtown Houston.

Mark spearheaded cost effective designs, and with the creative use of limited square footage and space, he was able to create a unique market where there was none previously.  His creative touch continued through the rest of the production house categories of the company.

When Mark began Collaborative Design Group in 2006 he was experienced in all phases of the architectural process.  Mark’s work is characterized by integrating innovative and original design ideas into his client’s homes.  His strengths include collaborative problem solving skills and developing lifestyle designs that endure through his aesthetic integrity.

“Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives.”
