micki barnett

principal interior designer

Micki studied Organizational Communication at UT Austin but soon realized her true passion lied in interior design.  After she married she decided to pursue that passion by attending The Art Institute’s Design Program, graduating with honors in 1990.  Micki practiced freelance design, working with clients both in residential remodel and new construction. She also contracted with architectural firms specifying exterior and interior finishes for various commercial projects.

After spending a few years close to home raising her four girls, she returned to design in 2009 working in the natural stone and tile field.  Micki brings to CDG her past design experience along with her extensive knowledge in interior and exterior natural stone architectural features, tile, and hard finish applications.

She believes that great design is best achieved by working in a cooperative design team environment. Micki delights in the process of working alongside clients, helping them bring to fruition the vision they have for their homes.  She feels successful design occurs when attention to detail is present and pleasure in the process is experienced by all.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking and baking for her husband and kids, spending time with her very large extended family, watching sports, and taking part in fierce but fun family game nights.

“We shape our homes and then our homes shape us.”

– Winston Churchill
